The HIM Educational Management System (EMS) is a compact Mini PC that brings digital learning and offline file sharing to your missionary community — even in areas with no internet connection.

It comes pre-installed with three services:

• HIM Portal — a captive portal that appears automatically in any browser when connected to the server's WiFi. Acts as a home screen linking to all services
• Kolibri — a free offline library of thousands of educational videos, lessons, and interactive exercises
• Nextcloud — a private cloud storage platform for your team, like Google Drive but completely offline

The server creates its own WiFi network (him-edu). Any Chromebook, phone, or tablet that joins this network can access all services through a regular web browser — no app downloads or internet needed. Any URL typed in Chrome automatically redirects to the portal.

Kolibri (by Learning Equality) is an award-winning offline learning platform used in schools, refugee camps, and remote communities in 180+ countries. Once content is downloaded to your server, it never needs the internet again.

What's included on your server:

• Khan Academy — Math, Science, Computing, Arts & Humanities across all grade levels, available in 30+ languages
• Wikipedia for Schools — 5,500+ curated encyclopedia articles with images for student research
• CK-12 — Free K-12 STEM textbooks, flexbooks, and interactive simulations
• PhET Simulations — Interactive science and math experiments (physics, chemistry, biology)
• Literacy Content — Storybooks and reading exercises in many world languages
• Life Skills & Health — Practical curriculum: hygiene, nutrition, community health
• Coding — Introductory programming courses for students and adults
• Teacher Training — Professional development content for educators

Kolibri supports 173+ languages and works at all levels from early literacy to adult education.

For teachers & coaches:

• Track student progress — view each learner's completed lessons, quiz scores, and time spent, all from a simple teacher dashboard
• Build custom lessons — curate a collection of videos, exercises, and readings from any channel and assign it to individual students or a whole class as a tailored lesson plan
• Run quizzes — create assessments from existing content and review results without any internet connection

Nextcloud is a private, self-hosted file sharing platform — like Google Drive or Dropbox, but it stays entirely within your local WiFi network. No data ever leaves your location.

Use Nextcloud to:

• Share documents, photos, videos, and audio files among your team
• Sync contacts and calendars across all devices on the network
• Collaborate on files without emailing USB drives around
• Store sensitive ministry documents privately and securely
• Upload and share sermons, study materials, and translations

Access it from any browser on the same WiFi network — just like any cloud storage site, but fully offline. Admins can create user accounts for each team member.

Connecting is simple — no technical expertise required. Here are the WiFi credentials your server broadcasts:

Step-by-step for each Chromebook:

• Click the WiFi icon in the bottom-right corner of the screen
• Select the network: him-edu
• Enter the password: 1234567890
• Open Chrome browser — it will automatically show the HIM portal page
• From the portal, click the service you want to use
